We’ve ranked the best campsite booking systems to help with your research. We’ve reviewed each system, looking at a set of core features needed to operate a campsite. Links to public review forums are included next to each option.

Let’s get one thing straight, the term “booking system”, or “booking software” is generic. There are two types of booking systems, both important but carry very different roles with different pricing structures.

Pitchup and Airbnb are examples of online travel agencies (OTAs). They are commissionable booking systems who advertise your campsite, at the cost of giving away up to 20% of the gross booking value. They can get expensive, and eat into your profit which is why it’s crucial to implement the next type of booking system to help reduce your reliance on OTAs.

Bedful and Outdore are examples of property management systems (PMSs). They are booking systems which handle your direct bookings without any commission. Direct guests are sourced from your own advertising efforts – a website, Google Business Profile, social media or maybe they were referred to you from a previous guest.

It’s worth mentioning that Outdore is both, an OTA and a PMS, and this brings unique benefits.

Booking systems

There are two types of booking systems, both important but carry very different roles.

Property management system (PMS)

  • Transacts your direct bookings for no commission.
  • Centralises direct & 3rd party bookings into a single calendar.
  • Your daily “go-to” software.
  • e.g Bedful, Innstyle, Anytime or Outdore

Online travel agency (OTA)

  • Finds you extra bookings, for a commission.
  • Use more than one to get more exposure.
  • Not your daily management software.
  • e.g Pitchup, Campsites.co.uk Airbnb and the Outdore App

Choosing the right booking systems for your campsite

Yes, plural – it’s a no brainer to have a booking system that facilitates your direct bookings (a PMS), and optionally combining it with one or more OTAs. More often than not, OTA(s) are needed to help increase occupancy, but they might not be needed if you’re established enough, and get your marketing and advertising right.

Choosing the right OTA(s) is a simple task. An OTA can be picked up and dropped at any time if it’s not performing as well as you had hoped.

Since a PMS is your “daily driver”, and it centralises all of your bookings, there’s a larger commitment, and the thought of transferring to a new PMS can be daunting. Still, it’s critical to settle on a PMS – we’ve helped lighten the research by ranking the best campsite booking systems below.

1. Outdore

PMS and OTA

Camping and glamping specialist

No contracts, listing fees or compulsory monthly fees

Can be used for free

Companion iOS and Android app

Free website for your campsite

Modern, simple booking experience

Free synchronisation to OTAs

Yes, we’re giving ourselves top spot, and for good reason.

Outdore is the newest of the options listed here, but it holds unique advantages with it’s map based booking journey, companion app and incredible value.

The system is intuitive to use, clear of clutter and continuously evolving with innovative features.

The guest booking experience is based on an interactive map which brings campsites an opportunity to take advantage of an optional revenue stream other booking systems can’t offer. Think booking airplane seats!

The dedicated iOS and Android companion app allows you to manage bookings on the go, bringing a convenience no other PMS can offer.

Outdore offers both, a PMS and OTA under the same roof. It’s one less OTA to manage, because it’s all seamlessly integrated under a single listing within Outdore.

We’re the only PMS with a genuine free offer. Freetobook might have ‘Free’ in the name, but you better get the card out if you want to accept payments or synchronise bookings with OTAs.

Family-run with a history of strong growth, Outdore is a reliable choice for campsite and glampsite owners looking for a modern, straightforward, and value-driven booking system.

2. Q-Book

PMS and OTA

Camping and glamping specialist

No contracts, listing fees or compulsory monthly fees

Can be used for free

Companion iOS and Android app

Free website for your campsite

Modern, simple booking experience

Free synchronisation to OTAs

Despite the red crosses up there, Q-book is a highly regarded, well respected PMS. It’s been around for over a decade, meaning it’s full of powerful features to help automate routine admin.

Although there’s not a free option, Q-book is still competitively priced, with a variable pricing model which charges you when taking a direct booking, or when you sync a 3rd party OTA booking into your calendar.

Their flagship features include a channel manager and dynamic pricing. These allow you to advertise your listing onto a select number of OTAs with a flick of a switch, the latter allowing you to sit back and allow an algorithm to set your nightly rates for you.

Although it’s not a specialist in camping and glamping, it supports different types of accommodation, from pitches for camping and glamping to cottages and lodges, making it versatile for various businesses.

Like Outdore, the customer support is personal, agile and offered over email or phone.

3. GlampManager / CampManager

PMS and OTA (GlampManager only)

Camping and glamping specialist

No contracts, listing fees or compulsory monthly fees

Can be used for free

Companion iOS and Android app

Free website for your campsite

Modern, simple booking experience

Free synchronisation to OTAs

Made by the same group, GlampManager and CampManager have been around a while and are very well respected in the industry.

Somewhat like Outdore, they have their own OTA, called glampsites.co.uk which if signed up to, reduces the price for the use of GlampManager. Unlike Outdore, a listing with glampsites.co.uk will rank in Google and will therefore compete against your own website, potentially poaching direct bookings.

Both systems offer unique specialisms for camping and glamping, meaning a hybrid site of pitches and units may lose out on CampManager’s camping specific features if going with GlampManager .

Their booking experience is slick, well designed and easy to use as a guest.

4. Innstyle

PMS and OTA

Camping and glamping specialist

No contracts, listing fees or compulsory monthly fees

Can be used for free

Companion iOS and Android app

Free website for your campsite

Modern, simple booking experience

Free synchronisation to OTAs

Like Q-Book, Innstyle supports a wide range of accommodation types, from single rooms and cottages to camping pitches and glamping pods, making it versatile for mixed accommodation sites.

Innstyle offer a suite of interactive widgets to embed onto your website to match your branding for a seamless booking experience.

Their system is modular, meaning you can install specific features that you need, which prevents you being overloaded with features you don’t need on an ongoing basis.

They charge an additional £10pm + 0.3% per transaction for payment processing which is handled by Stripe. Outdore are also integrated with Stripe for payment processing, but we don’t charge extra on top of Stripe’s own fees.

5. Bedful

PMS and OTA

Camping and glamping specialist

No contracts, listing fees or compulsory monthly fees

Can be used for free

Companion iOS and Android app

Free website for your campsite

Modern, simple booking experience

Free synchronisation to OTAs

Bedful is a popular PMS, with powerful features you might expect of a PMS, but we feel their position in the market is changing.

Their OTA, called Cool Camping was a very popular commissionable sales channel and rivalled Pitchup. In recent years, Cool Camping was bought out by Hipcamp, an American OTA and Cool Camping listings were migrated to Hipcamp. The dust might just be settling, but the takeover seems to have had an affect on Bedful.

Bedful’s guest booking experience is certainly serviceable, but dated and not the most user-friendly. The dashboard has reporting and performance stats which is incredibly useful for busy campsites.

We feel they were very competitively positioned a few years ago, but times have changed and younger systems such as Outdore can service the technology at a lower cost. This reflects in their pricing which is at the top end – however Bedful has a long standing history that might justify the slightly inflated pricing.

Honourable mentions

Freetobook may have dropped ongoing support for campsites entirely. There’s no mention of them on their website, only glamping. They were popular in the camping world but the reason for this is unknown. Despite the name, you will find yourself paying more than the likes of Outdore if you want to accept payments, and synchronise bookings with OTAs.

Anytime are another popular option, and do offer support for campsites, including certificated locations (CLs). We find their booking experience a little dated and we can’t comment on the useability of the management portal, but we are sure it will be versatile and feature rich.

Smoobu is a popular option but they don’t offer any support for campsites. They are a very large corporation, by far the largest on the list – which has it’s pros and cons.

ResNexus is an American company trying to break into the UK market. We have heard some positive things but haven’t had any hands on experience. They are very pricey though – the monthly price for the scheduled messaging feature alone is more expensive than the entire monthly subscription cost of Outdore. Who knows, they may offer a discount for smaller campsites.
